Product development is the bridge between the research and marketing process 

Its key function is to rigorously test products in various agro-climatic regions and compare the yield to benchmark products of competitors. Our products undergo a rigorous state gate screening process comprising six stages prior to commercial release. Seed Production and Disease Screening are an instrumental part of product development with testing spread across 40 locations, 8 centres and all agro-climatic zones of India. 

Trials are conducted in three phases to thoroughly test the performance of products before recommending for a national launch. The three different phases of trials are MLT (Multi Location Trial), LST (Large scale Trial) and Demonstrations. For the Multi-level trials, we have eight stations – each at a different agro-climatic zone divided across the length and breadth of the country.

Precision for results

At every level in each zone, rigorous monitoring and inspection standards have been established to ensure that only products which satisfy stringent performance parameters are qualified.

We have a cross functional team comprising experts from R&D, Sales and Product Development, jointly evaluate the products at different stages, interact with the farm community via meetings sharing technical information on advanced agronomic practices, pest and disease management and optimum fertiliser dosages.

Each vertical of Field Crops, Vegetables and Nutrition Supplements has dedicated and independent teams. The team collectively travels over a thousand kilometres to complete this laborious and massive process of evaluating large number of cultivars across many fields annually.
